Welcome to Steve Rolfe Photography

My name is Steve Rolfe and I started my own photography business just over a year ago.

The main feature of my business is based in interior design photography and I work with interior-soft furnishing designers as well as hotels and restaurant-bars.

I am based in Gloucestershire, but have worked in various areas of the country, so am happy to travel.

I have met and worked with a lot of fantastic designers and owners in my first year and am hoping to push my business onwards in 2016 and hopefully will get to work with a lot more creative people in the coming year.

I have a number of packages available to designers to suit their needs from whole property shoots to product images so I can offer a truly bespoke package.

New Improved Roman Blind Wizard

Roman Blind Wizard, the internet-based design and calculation facility for bespoke Roman blind makers, has celebrated its third anniversary with a complete makeover and functionality upgrade.

When it was launched in 2012 www.romanblind-wizard.co.uk was the first universal utility designed specifically to calculate the ideal fold sizes and precise rod pocket positions for cascading and standard Roman blinds. Since then it has helped more than 1,500 Roman Blind makers all over the world, ranging from large companies to individuals. To satisfy this global demand Roman Blind Wizard now offers both metric and imperial calculations.

Developed in the professional workrooms of Staffordshire-based bespoke curtain and blind-makers, Mary Grice Soft Furnishings, the Wizard eliminates the mathematical minefield which faces conscientious designers and makers of bespoke Roman blinds, generating precise answers to every key question:

  • How many folds should my Roman blind have?
  • Where should I position the rods in my Roman blind?
  • How do I plan for cascading folds in a Roman blind?
  • How do I allow for different headrail depths and bottom trims?
  • What will the stacked-up depth of my blind be?
  • How much fabric, lining and hardware will I need?

Initially developed with a view to saving precious time in her own busy workroom, designer Mary Grice soon realised that no other similar solution existed in the soft furnishing market-place.  Researching the likely demand for such a tool, she discovered three core traditional methods of approaching the fold calculation dilemma:

  1. Manual Calculations – tedious and time consuming, and often teamed with the need for trial sampling on scraps of fabric to double-check accuracy
  2. Look-up tables – often out-dated with no scope to specify different headrail depths or design options, these do not deliver a truly bespoke solution
  3. Getting it wrong – the mathematics behind perfect fold calculations is tricky; a tiny error can result in blinds that just look wrong!

“Each bespoke Roman blind has a multitude of variables” explains Mary, “including finished drop, headrail allowance, fold depth, number of folds, cascade increment, bottom trim and stacked-up depth constraints.  And with all these variables to consider, it’s not surprising that many of us spend more time on the calculator than the sewing machine!”

A solution was clearly desperately needed for bespoke Roman blind makers to improve the speed and accuracy of blind specification whilst retaining control of the variable design elements.  Roman Blind Wizard delivers a precise Workroom Instruction sheet and complete bill of materials from one simple input screen.  Interactive help and intelligent processing means that mistakes and wastage are eliminated.

Bollington Insurance Announced as Appointed Broker for British Interiors & Textiles Association

September 2015, Bollington Insurance has recently been appointed as the insurance broker for the British Interiors & Textiles Association.

Trade charity, FTCT, launches its second national poster campaign with the backing of industry leaders

Trade charity, the Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust (FTCT) has sent personal letters to CEO’s and HR managers of 130 of the UK’s top retailers, with the support of industry leaders Meg Lustman, CEO of Hobbs and Chair of FTCT, and Dave Shepherd, COO of Arcadia and Trustee of FTCT.

The aim of this year’s campaign is to increase awareness of FTCT’s grant programme that supports the education and wellbeing of children whose parents work in any aspect of UK fashion retailing, manufacturing and textile trade, including those who work in the interior textiles industry.

FTCT are currently working with BHS, M&S, Hobbs and NEXT however, they are keen to reach more companies – big and small – to help ease financial pressure off those families in the industry who have hit hard times.

It only takes one instance such as illness, disability or bereavement to put family in financial hardship,” says FTCT director, Anna Pangbourne. “This can have a detrimental effect on their personal lives and performance at work.

“We have grants available to help children with their education and overall wellbeing; these grants act a bridge to help families support them during difficult financial times,” she continues. “With the help of FTCT trustees such as Meg Lustman and David Shepherd we aim to encourage more employers to jump on board and work with us to support their employees and their children throughout the UK.”

Do we pay Utilitywise or the supplier?

Your contract will always be with the supplier.

How is Utilitywise paid?

Are Utilitywise regulated by an official body?

No, but we are regularly audited by the energy suppliers to ensure we are adhering to their codes of practice. In addition, we have an in-house compliance team.

 Which energy suppliers do Utilitywise work with?

We are truly independent and we place contracts with the widest range of suppliers including some of the smaller new entrants to the market.

What information do you need from me?

All we require is a signed Letter of Authority (LoA) and a scanned copy of your most recent bill. The LoA does not oblige you to do anything moving forward – it simply allows us to begin the analysis process. You are not obliged to work with us beyond that.

Who manages the handover?

Utilitywise manages the whole transfer process.
